ARE YOU OKAY?
The New Britain Borough Police Department is a "community oriented" organization and is pleased to offer this FREE service to the residents of New Britain Borough.  Our goal is to provide peace of mind for seniors who live alone or disabled residents who do not have daily contact with family or friends.

How does the program work?  "Are You Okay" is a telephone reassurance program for seniors or others who may need contacting on a regular basis due to health or mobility concerns.  The program consists of a daily check-in phone call with the police.  If a phone call is not received within the time that you specify, a phone call will be made to your home.  If the police are still unable to contact you, calls will be made to your designated emergency contacts that you provide to us.  If the police are still unable to locate you, a New Britain Borough Police Officer will be sent to your home to check on your well being.  In the event that we are unable to contact you, the officer that responds to your home will need to enter your residence, by force if necessary, to check your welfare.  You may wish to provide the police department with a key in the event of an emergency.

How do I join?  If you live in New Britain Borough and would like to join this program, you may stop by the police department during business hours (8:00AM-4:00PM Monday through Friday) to obtain the necessary forms for enrollment OR call us at (214)345-1080 and we will mail the forms to you OR download the forms below and mail back to us.

When does the program begin?  When you want it to . . . it's your program!

What about my vacation?  As a program member, you will need to let us know if you go on vacation.  Your membership will be temporarily suspended.  When you return home, notify us and will resume your enrollment.

T.E.A.M. - School Liaison Program
The T.E.A.M. project is a pro-active effort to make schools and communities safer. T.E.A.M. also promotes responsible citizenship and positive character traits among students.

Officer Ed Kraft and Officer Dave Interrante teach our program at Pine Run Elementary School.  The lessons focus on safety, including lessons on how to dial 911 and report a crime, and rules for bicycle and pedestrian safety. Other issues covered are weapon and drug free school zones, drug, alcohol, and tobacco use, violence and assaults, and traffic safety.

The T.E.A.M. curriculum also addresses positive character traits such as trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, firmness, caring, and citizenship.

The Officers teach a "law related" education program to the sixth graders throughout the school year. Unlawful and youthful risk-taking behavior will be addressed in this program with lessons on the laws and consequences that commonly affect students.

Students learn to take responsibility for their individual actions while working together as a T.E.A.M. in pursuing solutions to problems facing their schools and community.
