Get Smart . . . Roofing Warranty & Burglary

The Bucks County Crimes Against Older Adults Task Force received a report from the Plymouth Township Police Department regarding scammers who approach homeowners about a “roof warranty” in order to gain access into the home.  Plymouth Township reported the following incident:

On March 30, an 87-year-old resident from East Conshohocken was eating lunch when her doorbell rang.  The victim stated that a white male, 30-35 years old, approximately 5'10' with a thin build was at her door and stated that her roof had a 30-year warranty and he was there to repair it.  The victim informed the police that the male was adamant about checking for water damage inside the house and walked into her home uninvited.

When the male was going to exit her home, a white female, in her 30's, approximately 5'6," thin build with dark hair entered the residence and spoke to the victim in the kitchen.  The victim later discovered $80.00 and ˝-carat gold ring was missing.  The resident stated that the actors did not take all of the jewelry and left a few pieces behind.

The actors drove a newer black panel van that was absent of a company logo or writing of any type.  In addition, the victim reported that the male and female did not speak with an accent and were polite.
